The Position

The transaction services team is part of the wider Mazars Financial Advisory team. Financial Advisory incorporates a range of services including transaction services, corporate finance, debt restructuring, company valuations and independent business reviews.

Mazars Transaction Services are highly active in both buy-side and sell-side due diligence and related services, with our clients typically including private equity houses, corporate banks, SMEs and large corporates. As a mid-tier firm, the span of deal sizes is wide, typically ranging from €5m to €50m+. The Irish transaction services team are integrated with the global Mazars transaction practice, with a high degree of interaction and cross-referrals of transactions. As part of a fully integrated international firm, Mazars transaction services also advise international clients of the firm investing in Ireland.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Partners with responsibility for Financial Advisory and Transaction Services.

The candidate will be expected to:

  • Lead and assist in Transaction Services assignments
  • Interact directly with clients and targets in the delivery of projects
  • Possess strong communication skills, particularly with regard to written reports and presentations
  • Work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Manage relationships with clients and other business contacts and maintain focus on business development opportunities
  • Work to deadlines and within budgets on projects

Job requirements

Principal Requirements

  • Qualified accountant with experience in a medium/large practice environment
  • Post-qualification experience in a relevant area would be an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills
  • Excellent organisational and planning capabilities
  • A keen interest in business is essential
  • A broad range of experience of working with businesses across key business sectors
  • Experience in robustly challenging financial and non-financial aspects of businesses
  • Ability to undertake sector-based research and form a view as to risks and opportunities for a business operating in the sector
  • Preparation and interrogation of financial models including integrated profit and loss, balance sheet and cashflow projections
  • Strong report writing abilities
  • Experience of working in a transaction-based environment would be an advantage
